We hold the belief that clean water is a fundamental right for all individuals.

In Swahili, which is one of the official languages of Tanzania, "maji" means "water."

The Maji Movement is a nonprofit dedicated to enhancing clean water access for Tanzanian families, emphasizing community empowerment and sustainability. Through our efforts, community members gain knowledge in constructing, installing, and upkeeping biosand filters, while also cultivating a profound awareness of the profound impact of clean water on one’s overall health.

Your donation can change lives.

Support the cause as a monthly donor with a contribution of only $10 per month, ensuring that by year's end, you've granted a family one of life's fundamental requirements.

The significance of a $100 donation equates to supplying a filter, delivering up to two decades of pristine "maji" for an entire household.

Did You Know?

  • 3.4 million people worldwide die each year from water-borne illnesses due to lack of access to clean water.

  • 1 out of every 5 deaths worldwide in children under 5 years old occurs due to a water-related disease.

  • 1 in 9 people worldwide do not have access to clean drinking water

The Maji Movement provides access to clean water for families living in rural villages of Tanzania.

How we do it is what makes us different.

To fulfill our mission, we connect villages in Tanzania with schools based in the United States by bringing the discussion of the global water crisis into the classroom setting. Students become empowered to contribute to a more equitable future through advocacy and fundraising efforts as they help our projects in Tanzania come full circle. This is a movement of billions. Whether you can help with a personal donation or are affiliated with a school that would like to get involved, everything helps.
